I'm trying to summon up some enthusiasm for John Key. . . . . . . . No. Can't do it. Can anyone tell me three reasons that I should?
1.He made his money in a real competitive market. Not just talking the talk but walking the walk.
2. He is smart enough not to have committed himself to positions he can be caned with before he needs to
3. His personal history has an enormous added value and there is a reasonable chance he will take a pragmatic rather than idealistic course to add value for New Zealand
Lets see how he is doing after his first 6 months as leader. I am hoping he does well, but I am not excited about any radical moves towards the center.

The centre is the place to be. I agree with you Sage. It's rubbish to say Key has no policies just because he is not hide-bound by abstract, dinner party conversation ideologies.
He is into WINNING. That is the difference.

Good luck to him. I am somewhat dubious about what direction National will take... and would think that most Nat bloggers would not be happy selling out towards the centre just to get into Govt.
