Times Online has a blaring headline - Officer accuses US of racism . with the statement - "A British brigadier's damning indictment of American tactics opens a rift between allies"
When you actually read the document - Changing the Army for Counterinsurgency Operations , you find a far less extravagant analysis headed - "U.S. Army Transformation needs to focus less on warfighting and more on developing a genuinely adaptive workforce."
Actually a really interesting take on how the US Army approached Iraq, with an honest assessment of flaws, strengths and the need for change. written by A British Brigadier, clearly with a huge respect for the US Army, but someone nevertheless able to provide constructive criticism.
It is 14 pages but well worth the read if you have time.
Very interesting. I was especially interested in the comments about the commanders of the 101st and 1st Cav Divisions, as those two were the only ones I've heard about through the media for their focus on building basic infrastructure.
Michael Yon's unit was in Mosul, btw, where the 101st was based early on.

In related news, the Special Forces units are again being massively expanded, no doubt because conventional US Army units are ill-equipped and incorrectly trained to perform Iraq-type roles.
