Interesting link with the Magna Carta Phil - certainly true for the Treaty. As for Labour and the constitution, you're right - they have proven that they can't be trusted.



As I think I might have pointed out before, there was *no* link to the European Court of Justice or even the European Court of Human Rights when NZ used the Privy Council as its court of final appeal.

The US constitution suffers from 2 things: it was in large part based on their objections to the rule of George III (e.g. because the English wouldn't let them have guns they insisted on it as an entrenched right); it also requires an unreasonably high threshold for change (2/3 of both Houses and 3/4 of the States).
